Care of Product

Place vinyl fence components on a non-abrasive surface, such as a drop cloth, to avoid scratching. It is also important to protect all vinyl fence components during transportation to the work area to avoid damage. Bufftech's vinyl fence components are made to fit together without much force therefore avoiding excessive force when installing the fence components. Also it is important to avoid over tightening the screws when you are assembling the fence.

The best way to clean you vinyl fence is with a mild detergent and a plastic scouring pad such as Scotch Brite. For more stubborn stains, use a cleanser such as Soft Scrub. Concrete is easily washed off when wet, but can also be removed when dry.

General Information

All #8 screws require a 1/8" pilot hole.

All hinge, latch and end post require 2 pieces of ½" rebar inserted in opposing corners of the post,. Fill each post with concrete to cover the rebar and gate hardware. For the gates you may substitute gate stiffeners fond on each order page. Tap outside of post with a rubber mallet to eliminate air pockets in the concrete. Concrete and rebar are not required in line and corner posts.

Use duct tape to seal end of any rail inserted in a post that is to be filled with concrete and rebar (End and Gate vinyl fence Posts). This will prevent the mix from flowing along the rails. The weight of the concrete in the rail could cause it to sag and may block drain holes.

When cutting vinyl fence rails for shorter sections or gates, always measure from the center and trim both ends. This will give you even picket spacing. Remember "Measure twice, cut once". When it is necessary to cut rails for short sections of fence or gates always include ¼" drainage holes in the bottom of the section. Also, when cutting rails for post and rail vinyl fencing, always include 3/8" hole for the Bufftech's "locking rings."

Middle rails have larger holes routed in the underside for ease of installation. This technique is to allow for the vinyl fence to be able to go up and down hills.

REMEMBER: Always check local code requirements before installing a fence.

Bufftech always includes steel bottom rails for reinforcement, except for traditional picket fence. That is one of the reasons Bufftech is the industry leader in 8' sections as opposed to 6' section. If any fence is more than 6' without bottom rails stay away from it.

General Gate information:

Gates must be assembled prior to fence to accurately establish space between hinge and latch post and height of fence. Use extreme care when apply the PVC cement as it dries quickly. All Bufftech gates require 2" clearance under the bottom rail on level ground.

Gate hardware must be attached to the two sides of each post.

Steel bracket for the gate hinge must be attached to 2 sides of the gate upright post.

All gate hardware requires 1" spacing between hinge post and ¾" spacing between latch post. Post and rail gate hardware requires 1-1/2: spacing between hinge post and 1-1/4" between latch posts.

Note: It is extremely important to let concrete in the gate post set up for a minimum of 72 hours before removing blocks from under gate.
